Alfonso DelGaizo, age 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2010. Visitation with the family will be held at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave in Cranford, on Wednesday, December 22nd from 2-4 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at St. Michael RC Church in Cranford, N.J. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, N.J. Born in New York City, Mr. DelGaizo lived in Manhattan and Staten Island until marrying and moving to Jersey City in 1953. He worked for Pennsylvania Railroad (Amtrak) for 42 years. He was affectionately known as Uncle Al to his nephews and coworkers at the DiFeo Auto Dealerships, where he worked after retiring from the railroad. He spent his last decade living in Cranford. He was an avid gardener and loved to go fishing at the Shore. Mr. DelGaizo is survived by his wife of 57 years, Yolanda DiFeo of Jersey City; a devoted son, Louis DelGaizo; a loving daughter, Daryl DelGaizo Levy of Cranford, her husband, Steven Levy; two beloved grandchildren, Alexander and Chloe Levy.
