It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew (Andy) W. Cook, age 60, on July 30, 2024.
Andy was so many things to so many different people, touching the lives of countless individuals during his life. A brother, a son, a boss, a coach, a friend, but most importantly, a father. Andy was incredibly accomplished professionally, holding director roles at some of the world’s top financial institutions, but no job was more important than the one he held at home – being a dad.
Andy was a devoted father, and his children were the light of his life. He did everything in his power to ensure they had the best lives possible, and it showed in everything that he did. From his relentless work ethic to his grit and determination, when Andy set a goal for himself, he achieved it. Period.
Andy was a mentor to not just his own children but to so many who had the privilege of crossing his path. One of his top passions was coaching lacrosse, and he was an active member in the Northeast lacrosse community and a donor for the NCAA Division I Boston University Lacrosse Team (Go Terriers!).
He was happiest when helping others become the best possible versions of themselves – not just on the field but in life as well. “It’s actions…not words” was one of Andy’s favorite quotes, and he truly embodied that phrase in how he conducted his daily life. He was an excellent leader, and let his actions, results, and empathy speak for themselves.
Andy is survived by his mother, his sister, and his two sons. He created special relationships with lifelong friends and is held dear to so many people. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate his wonderful life on August 17th from 1pm-3pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, located at 12 Springfield Ave, Cranford, NJ 07016.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The ALS Association. Donations can be made at: donate.als.org.
Andy will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts.
