A. Victoria Sheppard, 91, left this life on Dec. 19 at Runnells Hospital in Berkeley Heights. She was born in Philadelphia to Harry and Augusta Oswald. A graduate of Kensington High School, she worked as a bookkeeper at her father's doll clothing manufacturing business Arcadia Mills. In 1958 she moved to Ventnor where she became active at St. John's By the Sea Reformed Episcopal Church, teaching Bible Club and Vacation Bible School. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at the Lombardy Motel in Atlantic City and at the White Sands Motel in Margate. She was also active in the Ventnor City Republican Club and was Judge of Elections at the Ventnor City Hall voting area. She moved to Scotch Plains, NJ in 2001 to live with her daughter and became an active member of the Westfield Presbyterian Church. She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Julius, in 2004, and her sister Ellen Reinert. She is survived by her daughter, the Rev. Vicky Ney (Richard), Pastor of the Springfield Presbyterian Church, two beloved grandsons, Michael Yob (Melissa) and Stephen Yob, her neice Nancy Binder (Joe), and 2 grandnephews Zachary and Dan Binder. Burial will be private. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, 210 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Springfield Presbyterian Church, 37 Church Mall, Springfield, NJ 07081. Arrangements by the Gray Funeral Home, Westfield, NJ.
