Catharine Smythe

Funeral services for Mrs. Catharine Smythe of Westfield will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 1 pm in the Gray Funeral Home 318 East Broad St., Westfield. Visiting will be from 11:30 am until the time of the service.
Mrs. Smythe, 98 passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She was born in Jersey City and grew up in Gillette. She later moved to Johnstown, Pennsylvania and then moved to Westfield in 1957.
During the 1940's and 1950's she was employed by Stevens Institute in Hoboken. She later became a homemaker.
Catharine was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield and also a member of the Women's Club of Westfield.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert who passed away in 1990. She is also predeceased by her brother, Wilton Hallock who happened to be one of the founders of Overlook Hospital.
She is survived by her son Duncan of Westfield and her stepson, Robert of Basking Ridge. She will also be deeply missed by her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Westfield Rescue Squad.
