Charlotte K. Sanner, age 86, died peacefully at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, NJ on February 22. She was born in Charlottesville, VA, and lived there until she attended Agnes Scott College, in Decatur, GA, graduating in 1960 with a degree in biology. She became a physician, receiving her medical degree from the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania. Following medical residency in Atlanta and a stop in South Carolina, Charlotte moved with her growing family to Massachusetts in 1969, eventually settling in Wellesley, where she lived from 1973-2021. She was a practicing internist in a group practice, and then at Wellesley College, where she became the Director of the Health Service. She retired in 2000, having worked at the college for 21 years.
Charlotte loved music, singing in the Wellesley Choral Society and the choir at the Wellesley Village Church, as well as playing piano duets with friends, and joining the Berkshire Choral Institute every summer. She belonged to several walking groups and delighted in caring for her garden during warm weather and houseplants during the winter. Most of all, she enjoyed her connections to family, friends and neighbors, maintaining close relationships with people she met at every stage of her life. Charlotte is survived by sons Paul, Greg and Erik, Paul’s wife Kim, Erik’s partner Kristie, and grandchildren Claire, Brynn, Kyla, and Jacob.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 20 at the Village Church, 2 Central Street, Wellesley, MA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The Fund for Agnes Scott, Agnes Scott College, 141 E. College Ave, Decatur, GA, 30030-3770 or give.agnesscott.edu.
