Debra S. Sikorski age 47 of Long Valley, NJ died Sunday, July 15, 2007 in Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born Debra Burgess in Summit she lived in Mountainside for many years and served on the session of the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside. An honors graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, she went on to earn a BS in Business Administration from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA in 1981.
After her marraige to Robert F. Sikorski also formerly of Mountainside in 1986, the couple then moved to Yardley, PA.
She began a successful career in Human Resources at AT&T in 1984 and then with the spin off, Lucent Technologies until 2003 when she retired.
In 1987 Debra was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and successfully underwent a bone marrow transplant with her late brother, Thomas S. Burgess providing the life saving marrow donation.
A passionate gardener, Debra promptly joined the garden club of Long Valley after moving there in 1991. She held various officer positions and was elected president in 2005 and recently completed her two year term.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas S. Burgess Sr. She is survived by her husband Robert F. Sikorski and her mother Lorraine Burgess and many dear and loving friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church on the corner of Deer Path and Meeting House Lane on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers donations in the memory of Mrs. Sikorski can be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
