Donald T. Heffner

Donald T. Heffner, 67 died Wednesday May 25th 2011 at his home in Scotch Plains after a battle with cancer. He was born in Simpson, PA, son of Anthony & Rose Heffner (nee Borosky). Don graduated from Fell High School in 1962 and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9PM Thursday May 26, 2011, Gray's 318 E. Broad Street, Westfield. Graveside services will be Friday May 27, 2011 in Fairview Cemetery, followed by a Memorial service at 11:00AM in The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. After moving to Landing, NJ Don worked at Rowe International and attended technical school studying computer technology. In 1970 he married Claudia L. Howarth of Westfield, NJ moved to Scotch Plains, NJ and raised 2 children. He worked at Exxon Corp. in Florham Park and later Pershing in Jersey City, Florham Park and Somerset, NJ An avid golfer, Don organized company golf leagues at Exxon and Pershing for many years. He volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 72 in Westfield, sharing skills like fishing with the scouts. He was an active Deacon at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Surviving is his wife of 41 years Claudia L. Heffner, a brother Anthony Heffner of Landing, NJ, a daughter Tricia Heffner Patricco, husband Anthony J. Patricco Jr. and grandson Anthony Martin Patricco of Union, NJ and a son Richard D. Heffner and wife Ryan-Marie Chiarella Heffner of Germantown, MD. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to The Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison and The Landscape Revitalization Fund at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
