Edward R. Hanewald, 69, died on Wednesday, January 18 at the Langhorne Gardens Nursing home in Langhorne, PA. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 22, from 4 to 7 pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, New Jersey. Funeral services will be held at Gray's on Monday, January 23 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. Born in Irvington, NJ Edward, the son of Edward and Helen Hanewald, grew up in Union, NJ and graduated from Union High School. Prior to his residence at Langhorne Gardens, he lived in Clark for 44 years. He was a lithographer and was employed at various print shops thru the Amalgamated Lithographers of America of New York City prior to his retirement. He spent his retirement years creating many wood carvings and enjoying fishing on his boat. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Gloria; his daughter Elizabeth Kruse of Churchville, PA; his son Edward and his wife Debi of Howell, NJ; his six grandchildren Amanda, Natalie and Owen Kruse and Justin, Olivia and Julia Hanewald; and his sister Joann Coffey of Cranford, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Osceola Presbyterian Church, 1689 Raritan Road, Clark, New Jersey.
