EDWARD R. MILDEN SERVED ON THE BATTLESHIP NEW JERSEY Edward R. Milden, 83, of Spring Lake Heights passed away on December 31st at his home. Edward was born in Bayonne New Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents Marguerite and Robert and a brother Bobby. He is survived by a brother Glenn and his wife Janet of Cranford, his companion and dear friend Matthew Muench, and loving cousins. Edward was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII from 1943 to 1947. He was a Sea-bee stationed in Maui. After a year in the Sea-bees, he volunteered as a Navy Frogman and spent the rest of the war service performing underwater demolition. He was in Tokyo Harbor on VJ Day. After the war, he was stationed in Saranac Lake, where he attended Paul Smith College. On his final tour, he was on the Battleship NJ with stops in Cuba and Europe and returning to Bayonne NJ. As a young man, he skated with Sonja Henie in New York City. Edward was a manager for Plessey Dynamics Corporation in Hillside, NJ until his retirement. He enjoyed sailing, water sports and entertaining his friends. He lived his life at the Jersey shore, residing in Atlantic Highlands, Deal, Monmouth Beach and Spring Lake Heights. He was an active participant in the "SEARCH" charity.
