Obituary for Edward Schultz of Cranford NJ
Edward Schultz of Cranford passed away at home on Friday, July 2, 2021. He was 90 and beloved by family and friends. Born one of seven children to German immigrants Helen and Emil Schultz, he resided in Jersey City, New Jersey, until joining the United States Coast Guard in 1952. In the Coast Guard he received schooling in electronics, sonar technology and radioman fields and served as an aviation radioman for three years. He then obtained a B.S. in electrical engineering, worked for Bell Laboratories in telecommunications for about forty years and consulted for Lucent Technologies for another five years. He loved fishing, gardening, watching football, socializing and fixing just about anything. He was married for over 60 years to his surviving wife Marjorie. Also surviving are his three children, Eric Schultz and his partner Steve Amsden, Teresa DeDeo and her spouse Tom DeDeo and Claire Schultz and her partner Mike Garzone, as well as his three grandchildren: Katelyn, Christina and Robert. He is predeceased by his sisters Alma, Evelyn and Mildred and his brothers William, Joseph and Allen. Life Celebration will be held Friday, July 9th, from 10:00 AM to 11 am at Gray Memorial Funeral home in Cranford, New Jersey, with a Memorial service to begin at 11 am. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Edward's memory to your favorite charity.
