Elaine A. Birkner

Elaine A Birkner, 89 of Ostrander, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025 just 1 month shy of her 90th birthday. Born in Jersey City, NJ to parents Andrew and Emma (Rackler) Chervenak. Elaine grew up in Bayonne, NJ where she met and married her lifelong sweetheart Robert in 1956 and moved to Roselle Park, NJ to raise their children. Upon retirement they resided in Toms River, NJ before Elaine moved to Ohio to live with her daughter. 

Elaine’s favorite pastime was watching her beloved NY METS on TV or better yet at any baseball stadium. She loved playing golf with Robert, watching her favorite soap opera Days of Our Lives, and playing Words With Friends on her IPAD. Most of all she cherished vacationing and spending holidays with family which included beating them all in cornhole and beer-pong at the lake.

She is pre-deceased by husband Robert and oldest son James and survived by daughter Kathleen (Jeff) Weaver of Ostrander, Ohio, son Robert Birkner of Garwood, NJ and daughter-in-law Nancy Halpin-Birkner of Moneta, VA. Elaine was a devoted grandma to her 7 grandchildren Eileen (Vinnie), Robert (Danielle), Brian (Val), Derek (Emma), Shannon (TJ), Stephanie (Brady) and Andrew. She also had 6 great-grandchildren Kayla, James, William, Hannah, Lainey and Brian that she truly could not get enough of.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy and compassion. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
