ELIZABETH MCLAUGHLINElizabeth (Liz) McLaughlin died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Peggy's House, Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.Born in Vienna, Austria, she grew up in Washington Heights, New York City and attended City College of New York. Following college she worked for the Collegiate Dutch Reformed Church of America. She then moved to Jersey City and raised a family while working as an Administrative Assistant at New Jersey City University before retiring in 2007. Liz traveled extensively throughout Europe, Canada and the Caribbean. She was a strong supporter of the arts and frequently attended theatre, museums, galleries and opera. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, where she served as an elder and deacon. She is survived by her former husband and friend, M. James McLaughlin, a loving daughter, Madeline McLaughlin and her husband Donald Carolan. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, James and Sara Carolan.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 20, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church of Cranford.
