Esther Herr Shaubach, 103 years old, longtime resident of Lancaster, PA, passed away at Brighton Gardens, Care Center, in Edison, NJ. Born in Lancaster, on August 31, 1921 Esther loved to volunteer, and in 2017 she received the “Excellence in Community Service Volunteerism Award” for her 50+ years of volunteer service at Lancaster General Health Hospital in Lancaster, PA. Esther loved to exercise and she worked out at least 3 days a week until she was 97. She enjoyed watching Penn State football, college and pro-basketball, she did at least one crossword puzzle every week and she constantly read. She absolutely loved and adored her doggie-granddaughter, Luna. Luna is a 75-pound Doberman Pincher, and Luna equally loved Esther. Esther and Luna had a very special bond, and Luna would always take a nap with Esther when they were together. Esther loved her family, especially her Recently deceased daughter, Judith Thompson and her granddaughter in-law, Audra Thompson. Esther also loved her grandson, Chad Thompson, whom she had an unwavering bond with. She is also survived by son-in-law: Richard Thompson, two sisters: Elinor Rudy, Emily Herr, nephew: Bob Rudy, and niece: Debbie Herr.
