A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mountainside for Florence C. Britton. Interment will be at 1:30 pm in St. Mary Cemetery, Wilks Barre, PA.
Mrs. Britton, age 94 passed away on March 28, 2006 in Overlook Hospital in Summit. She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA and has lived in Mountainside since 1940.
Mrs. Britton graduated in 1933 from the Pratt Institute of Technology in Brooklyn, NY.
She was employed as a dietician at the YMCA in New York City until 1939 when she stopped to raise her family.
She was a parishoner and also a member of the their Rosary Society in Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, Mountainside. She was also a member of the Mountainside Garden Club and the Mountainside Women's Club.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Josiah A. Britton. Six daughters; Marion Crawford of Plainfield NJ, Maureen Warren of Bethlehem PA, Alice Seidel of Oak Island NC, Phyllis Weinstein of Mohnton PA, Patricia Kopp of Scotch Plains NJ and Eleanore Landry of Castle Rock Co. One son, James Britton of Colts Neck NJ.
She is also survvied by 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 until 8 pm in the GRay Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365 would be appreciated.
