A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 11 am at the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave., Cranford for Mrs. Florence M. Burton. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Burton age 89 of Cranford died on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Robert Wood Johnson at Rahway. She was born in New York City on September 28, 1917 to the late Milton and Florence Scott. She has resided in Cranford for over 50 years.
Mrs. Burton was a graduate of Hunter College in New York City and earned her teaching certificate from Kean College. She was employed as a second grade school teacher at Roosevelt School in Rahway for over 20 years retiring in 1988. She also worked on the 1990 census at the Springfield, NJ office. Mrs. Burton was a member of Cranford College Womens Club.
She is survived by her former husband, John J. Burton. One son, Allen C. Burton and his wife Barbara of Westfield. A sister, Lillian Daly of Flower Mound, Texas. Two grandchildren, Abby and Matt Burton. Florence was a lifelong cat lover who also leaves behind her cat Penny.
