Frances Daleen (Foley) Canfield, 81 years young, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 in the home of her loving daughter and son-in-law Hope and Paul Muzeni. The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 am at the Gray Funeral Home; 318 East Broad Street, Westfield and a funeral mass celebrating her life will follow at 10 am at Holy Trinity RC Church on the corner of Westfield Ave. and First Street, Westfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Fran grew up in Seymour, Connecticut where her father owned Foley's Drug Store. As a young girl she would help out in the store and deliver prescriptions. As a parishoner of St. Augustine's Church in Seymour she was the Organist and Choir Director. In 1956 she married George Canfield and together they moved to Westfield, NJ. While her children were young, she was a den mother for the cub scout troop at McKinley School in Westfield. Along with her husband, she was involved with the Drum and Bugle Corp. at the Westfield Community Center for many years. Fran always enjoyed watching her daughter play softball and her oldest son play baseball. In 1986 her husband George passed away. Fran was also predeceased by her parents Edward F. and Violet Daleen Foley and her sister Mary Chiodo. She was a loving, caring and wonderful mother to her four children and their spouses; Hope & Paul Muzeni, George & Mary Jane, Edward & Loretto and Christopher & Diane. She especially loved her six grandchildren; Steven Muzeni, Elizabeth, Katherine, Michael, Kimberly and George Canfield. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law Anthony Chiodo and many extended family members. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad.
