Fred C. Haurie, Jr., 84, died on January 31, 2014 in Brandywine at Sycamore, Shrewsbury, NJ. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, February 23rd from 2-6 PM at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Born in Summit, NJ, Fred grew up in Maplewood, NJ and lived in Scotch Plains, NJ for 57 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty in June 2010. Surviving Fred are his brother, Don Haurie of Bay Head, NJ, his son Bruce and his wife, Lynn of Manassas, Virginia, his son Keith and his wife, Maura of Fair Haven, NJ, as well as four grandchildren, Caitlin, Deanna, Maya, and Jason. Fred was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed for his gentle nature and strong sense of humor. Fred graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood and Rutgers University. For 40 years, Fred worked as an industrial engineer in the Bell System. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westfield.
