Gerald A. Farley, died April 1, 2008, at his home in Clark, New Jersey. He was 78.
Mr. Farley was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania on September 12, 1929, the son of Andrew E. and Elizabeth Astleford Farley. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Mr. Farley enjoyed a 30-year career as a computer marketing executive at Burroughs Corporation and its successor, Unisys Corporation. He served in a variety of executive positions around the country at this firm.
Mr. Farley was active in the University of Scranton Alumni Society for many years, serving on its Board of Governors. He was also a member of the University's Scranton Club of NJ and its Golden Grad's Club. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and held a variety of local and state-wide leadership positions in that organization. Mr. Farley was a steadfast supporter of the Loyola Retreat House of the Society of Jesus in Morristown, New Jersey, having participated in 38 consecutive retreats. He was a long-time parishioner and lector at the Church of St. Helen's in Westfield, New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie Imbalzano Farley, two sons, A. Frank and Gerald A. Farley, two daughters, Marie E. Maddera and Teresa Farley Shapiro and 12 grandchildren.
Visiting will be held at the Gray Funeral Home 318 East Broad St., Westfield on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and also on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 4th, at 11:15 A.M. at the Church of St. Helen in Westfield, New Jersey. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Loyola Retreat House of the Society of Jesus in Morristown, NJ.
