Gerda W. Hollingsworth

Gerda W. Hollingsworth, (nee Opfer) passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 with family and friends by her side. Born on May 12, 1925, to parents Wilhelm & Emilie Opfer (Koch). She was the beloved wife to the late Edward B. Hollingsworth.
Mrs. Hollingsworth was born in Langenberg, Germany. She met her husband Edward while he was stationed in Germany. They married in 1948 and immigrated to Canada, where they lived for 2 years and later immigrated to the United States, where they lived in Newark, Elizabeth and finally making their roots in Cranford where they resided since 1953.
Mrs. Hollingsworth was a graduate of the Wilfred Academy of Beauty & Culture and was a licensed beautician for over 50 years.
She was a devoted mother to her 5 children, the late Eileen Hollingsworth, Gerda Felner (Eli), Edward W. Hollingsworth (Allison), Catherine Phelps, (Gordon), Marylee Souza. She also leaves behind her 6 loving grandchildren, Matthew, Alan, Gordon, Michael, Heather & Kimberly.
Friends and family are welcome to her Life Celebration service being held Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4:00-8:00pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave, Cranford. Funeral services are 10 am Saturday August 11, 2018, at the funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield
