Gloria Poole, 88, of Cobleskill, N.Y. died on Friday July 30th, at her home. Ms. Poole was Born March 24th, 1922, in Plainfield, New Jersey, the daughter of Denman and Helen Penision. She married Henry Poole in 1949, Mr Poole died in 1994. Ms. Poole grew up in Westfield, New Jersey and graduated from Westfield High School in 1939. She also attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Ms. Poole worked for a New York City publisher before becoming a homemaker. Reentering the job market in 1975, Ms. Poole worked for Beneficial Finance in New Jersey, eventually becoming corporate secretary. She retired from that job in 1944. She later worked at the Millington Library in New Jersey. Ms. Poole moved from Millington to Cobleskill in 2003. A lover of animals, Ms Poole Supported several animal shelters in New Jersey in addition to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. She also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, spending time with her family, the New York Yankees and watching old movies, in which she'd often identify long-forgotten actors. Ms. Poole was predeceased by her sister and lifelong friend Shirley Peniston, who died in 2002. Ms. Poole is survived by her son, Jim, and his wife, Sandy, of Cobleskill, two grandsons, Andrew Poole of Cobleskill and Nate Poole of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a nephew, Denman Penision of Chester, New Jersey and his wife Lucy and her daughter Sarha. Memorial Services will be held at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield, New Jersey on Thursday, August 26th, 2010. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 9:30am until the time of service at 11am. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, New Jersey
