Harold (Smokie) Owen, 89, died peacefully in Cranford, NJ on January 3, 2008. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at 3 pm.
Smokie was a decorated World War II veteran who received a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars as well as a battlefield commission. He was a member of the prestigious Essex Troop.
He was the owner of Owen Signs located in Cranford for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce, his children, David and Heidi and will also be deeply missed by his six grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
