Henry J. Halvorsen

March 16, 1920 — September 12, 2006

Mr. Henry J. Halvorsen age 86 died on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in the Haven Hospice of Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield, NJ. He was born in Elizabeth and has resided in Cranford since 1950.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp. as a Second Lt.
He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson Univ. with a BS in Physics.
He was employed as a mechanical engineer for 28 years with Bell Laboratories in Holmdel. He retired in 1986.
He was a member of the Gideon's.
He was also a very active member of the Raritan Road Baptist Church in Cranford where he taught Sunday School for many years. he was also on the Board of Trustees and the Board of Deacons.
He is predeceased by his two brothers Jerome and Drew.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Blanche Kopecky Halvorsen.
He is also survived by his children; David Halvorsen, Karen Wacome and Ellen Freeman.
One sister, Joan Merritt.
He will be deeply missed by his five grandchildren; Edward, Elizabeth and Joseph Freeman and Camille and Kirsten Halvorsen.
He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am in the Gray Memorial Funeral Home 12 Springfield Ave., Cranford. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Cranford First Aid Squad would be appreciated.
