James C. Pidgeon, 67, of Cranford, died suddenly, on Wednesday October 6, 2010, at Overlook Hospital, Summit. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday October 10, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, where freinds may sign the guest book at www.grayfuneralhomes.com. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Monday October 11, 2010, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cranford. Interment will follow on Tuesday October 12, 2010, in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. A resident of Cranford since 1970, Mr. Pidgeon retired from the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York City, where he was the Director of Admissions. He previously served as the Director of Admissions for the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, and later served in that role with Roger Williams College, Bristol, RI. Since retirement he had been a consultant with SUNY, New Paltz. A graduate of Oswego State University, NY, Mr. Pidgeon enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking, as well as following sports teams at all levels. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan H. Pidgeon, two daughters: Anne P. Callender, and husband William N. of New York City, Amy E. Pidgeon and fiance Daniel Cooke also of New York City, two grandchildren: Madeleine C. and Robert James Callender, brother: John S. Pidgeon and wife Nancy of Oswego, NY. He was preceded in death by brother: Lawrence Pidgeon.
