James G. Ward WW II Veteran James G. Ward, 92, of Cranford, NJ, died peacefully on Thursday July 29th . He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Veronica, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in the Bronx and was a quintessential New Yorker, fond of saying that he resided in New Jersey but lived in New York. He worked for 40 years in the Criminal Court of the City of New York, retiring in 1980 as Chief Clerk of Richmond County. Jim was a voracious reader and first-class raconteur. To know him was to understand the meaning of the words generous and kindness. A smile was never far from his lips and his dry wit was a gift to us all. The funeral Mass is Monday August 2nd at 10:30 at St Michael's R.C. Church with burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements by the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford, NJ In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a favorite charity.
