Jane Nee Lion Gross

Jane Lion Gross, 93, of Chatham, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Jane was born in Orange, NJ. to Earl and Gretchen Lion on July 26, 1928. She grew up in Short Hills, NJ. She married George P. Gross on April 17, 1953 in Short Hills, NJ. She graduated from Douglass College, Rutgers University, and received a BA in English. She worked for McGraw Hill in New York City before becoming a homemaker.

Jane was a long-time resident of Westfield, NJ. She enjoyed dried flower arranging, playing the piano, vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, and traveled extensively with her husband after his retirement.

Jane was a member of the Westfield Historical Society, the College Women's Club, the Rake & Hoe Garden club, and also the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Jane was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Westfield, NJ.

Jane was pre-deceased by her husband George, and survived by son George M. and wife Barbara Wilson, grandson David, son William and wife Sara Scully, granddaughter Natalie, and her sister Gretchen Mitchell.
