Jean Rizkalla (nee Humphreys)

Jean Rizkalla, 94, of Cranford, passed away at her residence on Friday February 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bayonne, NJ, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (O’Connor) Humphreys.  She was happily married for 64 years, to her beloved husband, the late Edward G. Rizkalla Sr.

 Jean was a homemaker for most of her life, and proud of her Irish heritage. When her children came home from school there was always something delicious cooking for dinner and on cold and rainy days there would be slippers warming by the radiator.  Once all of her children were grown she went to work at National State Bank where she retired after 15 years.  Christmas was her favorite time of year and she put her heart and soul into every aspect from presents to place settings.  She was small but mighty and when she set her mind on something, there was no stopping her. After a hard day of working or shopping, she was always ready to offer you a “nice cup of tea” and it was always in a “pretty” cup. Besides her husband Edward Sr., Jean was also preceded in death by her beloved son: Edward G. Rizkalla Jr, and son-in-law: Nicholas Sorrentino. She is survived by her loving children: Jane Sorrentino, James Rizkalla (Lynn), Laury Rizkalla, Suzanne Bakie (Steven), Lynn Weston (John), daughter-in-law: Gail Rizkalla, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. 

 Jean’s Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Friday February 23, 2024 at St. Michael Church, 40 Alden St., Cranford. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
