Jeanne S. Wilhelms, 85, died the morning of December 31. A resident of Mountainside for nearly 60 years, she was born in Elizabeth on January 4, 1924, to parents Freddy and Rose Sleckman. She is the sister of Fred "Boysy" (deceased); Dick of Glen Ellyn, IL; and Jack (deceased). She is the wife of Fred Wilhelms, Jr (deceased), and mother of Linda of Louisville, KY; Frederick III (Teri) of Nashville, TN; and Kip (Dolores) of Whitehouse Station, NJ. Jeanne is the beloved grandmother of Barbara, John, Ericka, Rebecca (Matt Douglas), Ben (Krista), Libby (Joe Horvath), and Amy. Jeanne graduated from Battin High School and Packard Business School. The recipient of the Mabel Young Award for community service, she was active in the Mountainside Music Association, the Community Presbyterian Church of Mountainside, the Mountainside Public Library, Children's Specialized Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity. She loved musical theatre, Judy Garland, a well-made bourbon old fashioned, and clams casino, and spent many happy days on the Jersey Shore. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 2 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside.
