Mr. Jerome Francis Gerold, 82, of Westfield, NJ.passed away Tuesday, June 20th, 2006 in his home.
Mr. Gerold was born in Jordan, Minn. on August 22, 1923, the son of the late Nicholas and Rose (Lucas) Gerold. He lived in Clark for several years before moving to Greenville, South Carolina. He has lived in Westfield for the last 2 years.
He worked as a Construction Superintendent at Crisdel Corp. Union County, NJ., for 10 years retired in 1985.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Westfield.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a GM2 in WW II.
He was the husband of Imogene B. (Nash) Gerold. 63 years
Daughters: Sandra Antonelli of Westfield, NJ.
Sharon G. Smith of Elizabeth, Colorado.
Son: Gregory Gerold of Aurora, Illinois.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
Sisters: Irene Coleman of New Hope, Minn., Rosemary Myers of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Caroline McFarland of Robbinsdale, Minn.., Ruth Gronli of Palatine, Illinois.
He was a member of the choir and a former trustee at the First Baptist Church in Westfield. He was also a fifty year member of Lafayette Lodge number 27 F& AM of Rahway and also a member of the Lions Club in Greenville South Carolina where he was active with Eyes For The Needy. He was a member of the airstream travel club and a past president of their Watchung Chapter. He was also a past scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of AMerica in Clark. He was a 40 year square dance caller and the only one who used live music while he was calling. He was a self taught musician, playing the guitar.
Memorial Service at at First Baptist Church, Westfield, New Jersey, at 11 am on Saturday, June 24th, with Rev. Dee Dee Turlington officiating.
Interment will be private in the Memorial Garden of The First Baptist Church of Westfield, NJ
