Joan A. Sheehy, 64, of Westfield, NJ passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Gray Funeral Home 318 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 10 am at St. Helen RC Church, Westfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
Joan was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from St. Joseph High School. She later received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John's University where she was also the captain of the basketball team.
She and her husband Matthew resided in Westfield for the last 29 years. Joan was a caring and selfless person who volunteered her time to help people. During her life she was the PTA President for Franklin School. Joan was patient and kind and enjoyed living life. She truly adored her husband, three children and four grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Matthew J. Sheehy, her son Matthew and his wife Kelly of Scotch Plains, her daughter, Kerry Ann
MacIsaac and her husband Matthew of Ridgewood, her daughter Megan Liriano and her husband Eric of Warren. She will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren; Matthew Joseph, Madelynn Eileen, MacKenzie Kay and Maria Esperanza. Joan was a loving sister to Katharine Silverstein of Staten Island, NY, Margaret Squires of Brooklyn, NY, Joseph T. Moran of Charleston, South Carolina and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
