Joan Valentine Stone, a longtime Westfield resident, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2017 after a long illness. She was 99.
Survivors include her son Greg, his wife Mary, their children Lauren and Jack, Joan's sister Lilian and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was born in Butler, Pennsylvania and moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey at the age of ten. She spent two years in Europe as a volunteer for the Red Cross during World War II and subsequently worked as a secretary before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Her husband, John B. Stone, Jr., a prominent Union County attorney, died in 1975.
In Joan's memory, contributions may be made to Father Hudson House, Center for Hope Hospice, 111 DeHart Place, Elizabeth, NJ 07202.
