John Patrick "Jack" Byrne

July 5, 1960 — June 12, 2020

John "Jack" Patrick Byrne Jr. (59) - 6/12/2020 - passed away peacefully at his home in Clark surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elizabeth, he was raised in Cranford and was a longtime resident of Union and eventually Clark.

He was a graduate of Cranford High School, Class of 1978 and worked for the U.S Department of Justice for 25 years. Prior to working for the DOJ he was a licensed electrician by trade, business owner of Jax Electric and a member of the IBEW Local 358. He was married to his high school sweetheart Susan Byne (Del Russo), they had three children. Jack Byrne was the ultimate family man and lovingly known to his grandchildren as Pop-Pop. He was always involved in his children and grandchildren's activities as a soccer coach, sports photographer, dance recital enthusiast and theatre goer. He was a member of the Garwood Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his summers with family at the Jersey shore, camping trips and woodworking in his free time. He, his son, his nephews, brother and father spent summers touring national baseball fields and they loved to spend time at Monmouth Race Track. His greatest joy was his four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Joan Byrne.

Surviving are his father, John P. Byrne Sr., his loving wife and caretaker, Susan, their three children, daughter Laura Di Staulo her husband Christopher and their two children, Violet Ann and Finley Christopher, daughter Leann Lechner and her husband George and their son George Oliver, and their son John Byrne III, his wife Nancy and their daughter Wesley Phyllis. His siblings, Eileen Byrne, Kathleen Byrne, Nancy Byrne, Michael Byrne, his wife Lisa, Kelly Byrne and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to the current pandemic situation, interment services at Hazel Wood Cemetery, Colonia will be private. There will be a celebration of Jack's life at a later date.
