A mass of Christian burial will be on Friday at 10:30 am in St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River for John A. Calabrese who died on March 12, 2007 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, NJ. Interment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Gray Memorial Funeral Home 12 Springfield Ave., Cranford, NJ.
Mr. Calabrese age 87 was born in Italy and came to the US in 1927 settling in Brooklyn. He lived in Union for many years until retiring to Toms River several years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. he was employed by Anheiser Bush in Newark as a foreman for 32 years, retiring in 1985.
He is predeceased by his wife Annette (1988). He is survived by his children Anthony and his wife Beverley Calabrese, John Calabrese and Susan Calabrese. His siblings, Angelina Rende and Peter Calabrese. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Mariel Calabrese, Damien and Alexis Liastro.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
