John Curlik age 90 passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 at his residence in Westfield. He was born in Elizabeth and resided for most of his life in Linden before moving to Westfield 4 years ago.
Mr. Curlik was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army and was trained as a pilot and a glider pilot for the invasion of Europe. He attained the rank of captain.
For many years he was employed as an engineer for Phelps Dodge Corporation in Elizabeth and South Brunswick. He retired in 1973. He then went on to form Martin Alloys Corporation in Linden which was a company for recycling of diamonds and tungsten. He was an active part of this until the age of 86.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret. A daughter Margaret Blendulf and a son Martin Curlik. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Martin, Meg, Rodger and Larissa.
