Joseph George Brescher

Joseph George Brescher, 77, died peacefully at his home in Flemington (NJ) on November 11, 2010. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday November 15, 2010, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield (go to www.grayfuneralhomes.com to sign guest book). Mass of the Christian Liturgy will be celebrated at 10AM Tuesday November 16, 2010 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 First St. at Westfield Avenue, Westfield. A former resident of Clark, where he lived for 35 years, Mr. Brescher had suffered three strokes since 2008. Born in Elizabeth and raised in Newark, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph P. and Mary (nee Albertocki). Joseph was the devoted husband for 52 years of Marion Brescher (nee Deaney);the loving and adored father of Diane and Joseph; dear brother of Richard Brescher, and wife Gail; and uncle of several nieces and nephews. He served in the US Army at Fort Myer, VA, and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Mr. Brescher was President of Sun Homes Inc., a local home builder and contracting firm primarily servicing the Union/Middlesex County area. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Joe had a passion for running, participating in half marathons and shorter distances. Most proud of his runs up the Empire State Building, Joe was a member of the NJ Central Road Runners Club, having won the USTAF award for his age group. The Belmar Five run, was an annual favorite, where he was sometimes joined by his daughter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Kean University Foundation (in Memory of Joseph G.
