Joseph D. Genlot, 77, of Westfield, died Friday January 2, 2015, at Overlook Medical Center, in Summit. He was retired from the US Military Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center at Fort Monmouth, NJ, where he was an electrical and computer research engineer. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Joseph graduated of Pratt Institute of Technology. Before his career at Fort Monmouth, he previously worked for IBM, Western Union, and Con Edison. He enjoyed playing billiards, bowling, and reading Steven King novels. Joseph is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Ann (Patterson) Genlot, Daughter: Jennifer Genlot Brower, and her husband John Jr. of Middletown, NJ, Son: Jeffrey D. Genlot and his wife Donna Cordell-Genlot of Westfield, six grandchildren: James J. Adams, Daniel J, Brandon A., and Kayla A. Genlot, and Faith and John Brower III, brother: Albert E. Genlot and his wife Cynthia of Brooklyn, NY. Joseph's Life Celebration will begin at 5:00PM Saturday January 10, 2015, at Gray Funeral Directors, A Life Celebration Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield, where his service of remembrance will begin at 6:00PM Saturday.
