Joseph Anthony Saunders

Joseph Anthony Saunders, Sr., 64, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Joseph was born in Inwood, Long Island and a resident of New Jersey for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Diane of 42 years, children Lisa (Dan), Donna, Joseph, Jr. (Caitlin), granddaughter, Samantha, brother, Gregory, brother in law, Joseph and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph spent 25 years with the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections as a construction manager overseeing all 14 institutions.

Joseph spent much of his childhood in Upstate, New York where he developed a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. A skilled carpenter, Joe enjoyed working with his hands and loved to help family and friends with projects. Most of all, Joe loved to spend time with his family, around the dining room table or out on the deck.

A Life Celebration will be held on Sunday, September 11th, at Gray's Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asked to please make a donation to Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.
