Kate A. Tevis

September 18, 1955 — July 29, 2012

Kate A. Tevis Artist and Entrepreneur Kate (Kathleen) A. Tevis joined the angels on Sunday, July 29, 2012. Kate was an artist and business entrepreneur who enjoyed the love, respect, and admiration of her family, her colleagues and her business clients. A graduate of Mother Seton Regional High School and Seton Hall University, she started her career as a commercial artist in the advertising business working for a number of organizations including WABC television. In the mid 1980's, she was a founding partner in BusinessMakers Design Inc. Many of her logo designs became familiar symbols of local New Jersey businesses. She was also a former Vice President of Marketing for the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO). Her logo design for them was adopted at the time by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) on an international level. She was the recipient of the TEAL HEART award for her contributions to the advancement of business entrepreneurs. In the 1990's, she began a happy and fruitful career with Art Plus as a corporate art consultant and resident artist and creative director. Besides selecting and providing art for a prestigious list of corporate and health care clients throughout the United States, she created history walls, collages, and sculptures under the name of "Kasha." Her art can be found in many hospital and business addresses including Kimball Hospital in Lakewood, NJ and the Stryker Corporation. Perhaps her most happy and satisfied clients are the children of strangers, friends and family for whom she would always take the time to create cartoons of their favorite animals. They still adorn the rooms of these children many of whom are now adults. She will be missed by all who have crossed her path. She is survived by her husband Robert, her father Raymond, her sister Christine, her mother in law Mary, her in laws Donna and Otto, and especially her beloved niece and goddaughter, Victoria and her nephew, Matthew. Her mother Elizabeth and her beloved grandmother Ann preceded her passing. Thursday visitation is at Gray Memorial Funeral Home in Cranford from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral mass is 9:30am Friday at St. Michael's Church, Cranford, followed by Entombment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. The family requests that any memorial donations, which are intended in Kate's name, be made to Cranford Family Care, 61 Myrtle Street, Cranford, NJ 07016 (908) 276-3530.
