Kathleen D. Carlson
Kathleen D. Carlson passed away on November 11, 2014 after a brief stay in Overlook Hospital. She was 73.
Born and raised in Bayonne, she spent her adult life in Cranford, both as a resident and a teacher in several Cranford Public Schools. She spent the majority of her career at Orange Avenue School, where she made many cherished friends, enjoying their company until recently, well into her retirement.
Kathy had many hobbies and interests, and always had a project going. She was an expert level crafter in many areas, including sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was also an avid cook and fan of the Food Network, who had a long list in mind of new things that she wanted to try in her kitchen.
A perpetual positive thinker with a "can do" attitude, Kathy handled several years of a difficult illness without complaint, always mentioning with a smile the things that she was looking forward to doing when she felt better.
Kathy cherished time with family. She was predeceased her husband, A. Richard Carlson, by her parents Joe and Tess Demmy and a brother, Dennis Demmy, all of Bayonne, and a loving mother-in âlaw, Edith Carlson of Cranford. She is survived by Richard A. Carlson of Billings, MT, Kathleen A. Carlson of Cranford, NJ, Jacqueline Demmy Kretchun of Winston, MT, and Lorrie A. Bove of Cranford, NJ. Kathy loved dogs and also shared her life and home through the years with 3 beautiful dogs that gave her joy and comfort every day.
