Kathryn Crandall Smith

Kathryn Crandall Smith, 83, of Westfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born in Oswego, NY on August 27, 1928, she graduated from Pine Manor Jr. College, Wellesley, MA, in 1947, and received a Bachelors degree in History from Randolph-Macon College, Lynchburg, VA, in 1949. Kathyrn worked as a reference librarian for the City of New York. She was an active member of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. She was the beloved wife of the late William Layton Smith, who died in 2010. Kathryn is survived by three children: William L. Smith Jr. and his wife Deborah of Cincinnati, OH, Susan S. Rooney, of Venice, FL, Nancy C. Smith of Westfield, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a brother, David H. Crandall and his wife Jane of New Canaan, CT. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitatation from 6:00 - 8:00PM this Sunday February12, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield (www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences). Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Monday February 13, 2012, in the chapel of The Presbyterian Church, Westfield. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
