.With a happy heart, and an always-ready laugh on hand, Lidia Orellana lived a life
filled with humor. She could make you smile with a subtle line, a well-timed look, or
a simple gesture that kept you on your toes and doubling over in laughter at any
given moment.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Lidia immigrated to the United States in the 1940s where she
met the love of her life, her husband Alfonso. After living in New York City for many
years, they moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey. There, they opened the Orellana Watch
and Jewelry Repair Store. Later, when her husband and mother took ill, Lidia lovingly
cared for them, embracing her strong faith as her guide through difficult times.
Lidia is survived by her daughter Diana, son-in-law Manuel, sister Dolores Novoa,
and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her two grandchildren, Alexandra
and Manny, who will always remember her free-spirited ways, allowing them to do
whatever their parents forbid, and her legendary cooking skills (which strictly
meant purchasing glazed donuts for dinner).
The Garcia Family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at Runnells
Hospital for their devotion and care during Lidia's final years. You were her angels
in her time of need.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue,
Cranford.
A funeral service will be 11 am on Friday June 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment is private.
