Louis Belfiore

February 13, 1959 - November 30, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Belfiore who departed this life on November 30, 2024 at the age of 65. He was born on February 13, 1959 to Mary and Joseph Belfiore, and was loved by all who knew him.

A true New Yorker to the core, Lou was born and raised in Brooklyn surrounded by his loving and larger than life Italian family. He was always quick with a joke and ready with a quote, line, or quip from a classic movie or TV show; some of the favorites being Mel Brooks’ movies, the Honeymooners, the Odd Couple, and Seinfeld.

Born with a natural mechanical ability, Lou worked as an operating engineer where he managed the heating and cooling equipment in the Goldman Sachs building at 85 Broad Street in downtown Manhattan. He would go on to become the longest serving engineer in the building’s history where he trained countless others and navigated some of the most difficult times that New York City confronted including the World Trade Center bombings in 1993, the September 11th attacks, the Staten Island Ferry crash in 2003, and flooding during Hurricane Sandy.

While dedicated to his career of over 30 years, Lou lived life on his terms and cut his own path in the world. He had quiet and cool confidence in himself and was a lifelong lover of rock bands Queen, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, and many others. He was anything but an ordinary guy, he loved exploring unique cuisine, had a keen sense of style, and personified kindness and generosity to those he loved.

He is survived by his partner, Huichu Sandve, his four siblings, Rosemary Modica, Charles Belfiore, Joseph Belfiore, Vincent Belfiore, and his son Louis Belfiore and his wife Erika and two grandchildren, Everett and Nora Belfiore. He will be especially missed by his beloved niece Nivia Crest, her husband Joseph and their family, niece Sandy Chapman, her husband Jeff and their family, and nephew Kenneth Bucchieri, his wife Helene and their family.

He was preceded in death by his niece Michelle Davis (2024) and will be especially missed by her husband Gabriel and their family.

A viewing and service will be held on December 13, 2024 at Gray’s Funeral Home in Cranford, New Jersey beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET.

Lou will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
