Lyle Lawrence Burnett, age 92, went to live with the Lord on Friday morning September 13. He was surrounded by family and passed peacefully after a short illness. He was born in Bayonne, November 17, 1931, the son of William and Pearl Burnett. The family moved to Cranford just prior to World War II where Lyle went on to graduate from Cranford High School in 1949. He married Beverly Lissenden shortly after high school and moved to Ohio where Lyle was stationed in the Air Force. After discharge from the service, the couple moved back to Cranford where they lived together for 65 years until Beverly’s passing in October of 2019. They had just finished celebrating 67 years of marriage. Lyle was a caring father and friend who worked for AMSCO/UNOCAL, a division of Union Oil for over 30 years at the time of his retirement in 1991. He loved to work in his garden, listen to music, fish and keep current on all of the sporting events of the day. Survivors include his children Kenneth Burnett, Kurt Burnett and Karen Burnett Dziurzynski along with spouses Kimberly, Jayne and Michael. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Ashley Parson, Nichole Hall, Patrick, Jacqueline, Scott and Emily Burnett and four great grandchildren, Cameron and Caiden Parson, Charlotte and Lyle Hall. The family will be planning a memorial service 11:00 am Friday, November 15, 2024 in the Snyder Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, to honor the life of a man who was truly dedicated to his family, friends, neighbors and the Lord. May he rest in peace. Arrangements by Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford, NJ. Please go to: www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences.
