Margaret Mary Ruff

October 14, 1925 — December 22, 2011

Margaret Ruff of Springfield Ave, Cranford died on Thursday December 22, 2011. She was 86. born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, had a brother and two sisters all of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. James Ruff. Cremation is private and there will be no visitation, however a memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford 11 am January 7, 2012. She and her husband bought their first home in Roselle Park in 1953, moved to Cranford in 1969. They adopted two children, James A. Ruff, (deceased) and Lynne Davis, now of Las Vegas, Nevada. Surviving her are four grandchildren, Justin (who is also her adopted son), Christopher, Jonathan, and Jennifer. and also many great-grandchildren. Loving to sing, she sang in church choirs all her life, most recently with the Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, where she also was a founding member of the Jubilee Bell Choir. She was an active member of the Cranford Dramatic Club for 49 years, appearing on stage in several productions and publishing their monthly newsletter for many, many years. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the New Jersey Blood Services for 35 years, She was also a member of the Wednesday Morning Club of Cranford. She was also a member of the Elizabeth Junior Women's Club. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Roselle Golf Club for many years where she cherished her friendships made there. Donations in her name may be made, if desired, to the Memorial Fund of the Music Department of The First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, 11 Springfield Ave. Cranford 07016.
