Marie Seavy, 83 a lifelong resident of Cranford passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009 at her home.A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, July 22nd at 2 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church in Cranford. Arrangements are by the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford.Marie received a BS degree from Douglas College. She was a past President of the College Woman's Club in Cranford, a long time member and past President of the Cranford First Aid Squad, a volunteer with the Cranford River cleanup and Calvary Lutheran Church's Hospitality Program for the tempoarily homeless. She was also a facilitator in weekly behavior modification programs in state prisons in Rahway and Clinton and assisted with the local resettlement of Vietnamese refugees. In 1977 she was awarded the Cranford Citizen of the year. Maries also received from the Cranford Clergy Council the Martin Luther King, Jr. award. Marie was predeceased by her son, Thomas in 2006. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Seavy and their sons William and James. She will also be deeply missed by her six grandchildren and one great grandson.Donations in her memory may be made to either Calvary Lutheran Church or The Cranford First Aid Squad.
