Mario David Levonas, at the youthful age of 68, passed away at home on November 3,2023.
Mario, son of Helen and Albert Levonas, was born on November 28, 1954, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Mario — aka “Chubbs” — was a US Navy veteran, having served on the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier the USS Enterprise. It was during that time overseas when he met Maria, his future wife. After the military, he went on to receive his bachelors and masters degree in electrical engineering at NJIT. He then went on to work at Cisco systems, helping build a telecommunications cable that stretched across the Atlantic ocean. Once he retired, Mario also went on to start a successful eBay business which he continued until his final days.
Mario loved fishing, especially tuna fishing. He also loved watching the Yankees play, despite their terrible 2023 season.
Mario is survived by his loving wife, Maria, of 45 years; his sons, Kevin and Robert; his daughter, Lisa; and five grandchildren.
All that said, all the accomplishments, he was most proud of his family.
And as they say in the military: fair winds and following seas.
‘…think of me in your depths of your despair…” Adele
