Mary Florence Kamins (nee McInnis), 87, a longtime resident of Westfield, died peacefully Wednesday, June 12, after an extended and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mary's Life Celebration will be from 5 – 8 pm on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield. Her funeral mass service will be 10AM Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Ave, Westfield, NJ, with burial to follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ. Mary Florence was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas T. Kamins. She is survived by her five children: Michael Kamins, Ted Kamins, Peter Kamins and wife Teresa, Kathy McCord and husband Mike, and Steve Kamins and wife Liz. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her sisters Hatti Stimpson and Jewel Schley, and brother Paul McInnis. Mary Florence grew up in Tignish, Prince Edward Island along with her ten brothers and sisters. She graduated from nursing school in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at the Columbia Presbyterian Eye Institute in New York, as the Director of the Westfield Convalescent Center, and in private duty. She loved attending the sporting events of all her children, playing with her grandchildren, reading, and walking. Everything she did, she did with a smile and a laugh. Her compassion, energy, and love of life will be dearly missed by all.
