Nancy Squire Christensen, community leader and clubwoman, died peacefully on February 27, 2015 at the age of 92. She lived in Cranford from 1953 until 2008 when she relocated to Monroe Village in Monroe Township, NJ.
A graduate of Douglass College, she was a past president of the College Women's Club of Cranford. Active in the formation of the League of Women Voters of Cranford, she served as the first president. Mrs. Christensen was elected as an Honorary Member of the Board of Trustees of the Visiting Health Services of Union County in recognition of her 26 years of service on the Board. She was a member of the Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield, president of the Floraphile Garden Club of Cranford, a member of the Cranford Historical Society and served on the United Way.
She was active in the Ashbrook Women's Golf Association, the Scotch Hills Women's Golf Association and the Cranford Swim Club.
A member of the Presbyterian Church of Cranford since 1954, she served as a Deacon and helped for many years with the Homeless Program.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, S. Robert Christensen. Surviving are: a son, Scott (Pam), of Manhasset, NY; a daughter, Carol Schiller (Robert), of Lebanon, PA; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
