Nancy Roff, age 92 of Westfield, NJ passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Atria Cranford in Cranford, NJ. She will be remembered by her family for her kind, generous and loving soul.
Nancy was born in New York City on August 3, 1928 to parents, Olive (Graham) and George Earl May. Nancy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Roff; brother Donald May; and sister Emily Guyett. She is survived by her three children; Susan (Richard Venanzi) of Roselle Park, NJ, Robert (Wally) (Elaine Uscinowicz) of Westfield, NJ and Thomas (Nita Alexander) of Gaithersburg, MD. She is also survived by her 5 beautiful grandchildren Laura, Sheryl, Alyssa, Michael and Adel as well as her sibling Roger May and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
Before moving to Westfield, NJ, Nancy grew up in Larchmont, NY and Maplewood, NJ. She graduated from Maplewood's Columbia High School in 1946. She earned a degree in Retailing from Rochester Institute of Technology, NY and worked as a merchandise buyer for Hahne & Co. in Newark, NJ.
In 1954, Nancy was married to Robert W. Roff (d. 1971) and they raised their three children in Westfield. She lived on Birch Place, Elm Street and Castleman Drive making lifelong friendships along the way. She enjoyed birding, bridge, sewing and was an avid gardener. Involved in her community she was a PTA member, both Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Nancy was a member of the Westfield Service League and Westfield Garden Club.
Nancy was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield. She taught Sunday School, and volunteered for many church activities. After retiring as a bookkeeper for the Westfield Pediatric Group in 1993 she became a member of Circle 2 and the Weedy Workers who spruced up the church grounds. In her last years Nancy spent many happy days at Sage Eldercare being cared for by their attentive and competent staff.
A Memorial Service at the Presbyterian Church of Westfield 140 Mountain Ave. Westfield, NJ is planned for August 14 at 2:00 in the chapel.
