Mr. Peter Dennis Hoff age 66 died peacefully at his home in Springfield on Sunday, Veterans Day, Nov 11, 2007.
Mr. Hoff was born in Abington Pennsylvania and was raised in Westfield. He lived in Watchung and returned to Westfield for several years before moving to Springfield 18 years ago.
Mr. Hoff proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. from 1959 to 1963. During that time he earned the Rifle Expert Badge. He served through the Bay of Pigs Invasion during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. and also in Rota Spain.
Peter retired from the Westfield Post Office in 2000 after many years of service.
He was an avid fisherman and gardener as well as a passionate fan of the NY Yankee and NY Giants.
He is survived by his wife, Cordelia Hoff. His daughter Leslie and her husband Rich Rifenburg of Freehold. His sons Eric and his wife Marianne Hoff of Warren and Roy E. Hoff of Springfield. He is also survived by his sister, Joy H. Sargent of Columbus Ohio and two brothers and sister-in-laws; Reverend David and Margaret Hoff of Henderson, Nevada and Paul and Debbie Hoff of Frenchtown. He will be deeply missed by his grandsons; Ryan, Sean and Neil Rifenburg and Eric Hoff, Jr. and his two nieces, Jan Smith of Dublin, Ohio and Melissa Hoff of Frenchtown.
