Philip Henderson Cease

December 24, 1924 — May 21, 2006

Philip Henderson Cease of Mountainside passed away May 21, 2006. Born December 24, 1924 in Trucksville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Wilson A. and Mary Skaden Cease.
A graduate of Kingston Township High School, he attended Bucknell Junior College, now Wilkes University, before serving three years in the US Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He graduated from Penn State University in 1949 majoring in Agricultural Economics. He was a member of Delta Theta Sigma fraternity. He was a special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Newark and New York offices prior to joining Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation in Little Rock, Arkansas and New York. He joined the Kinney Shoe Corporation in 1969 and retired in 1990 as Vice President of Personnel.
He was a member of the Society of former Special Agents of the FBI, Inc., a former member of the New York Roatry Club, a member of the Pennsylvania State University Alumni Association having served on the Alumni Council, Development and Admission Councils. For many years he was active in the Penn State Club of Northern NJ serving as President and in many other capacities. He served as President of FISH of Westfield, NJ which provided 24 hour service to those in need and was a member of the Westfield Historical Society. He was a Methodist, a member of the George M. Dallas Lodge 531 F. & A.M. and a memebr of the Scottish Rite-Valley of Bloomsburg.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha Martin Cease.
Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Wilson A. and Mae C. Cease Scholarship Fund at the Pennsylvania State University, Development Office, 232 Agricultural Administration Building, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2 pm in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Ave., Westfield.
